Seoul BBQ Festival 2026: Book a Grill or Just Visit?

Seoul’s barbecue festival is scheduled for October 24–25, 2026 at Nanji Campground. Entry is free, while food and self-grill tables cost extra. Seoul’s notice marks both advance reservation releases as closed; an unreserved visitor can plan around the prepared-food area.

What does “free” actually cover?

The Korea Tourism Organization lists the festival as free, but that is an admission description, not an all-inclusive meal offer. The organizer's FAQ confirms that entry is free and food is paid for separately. A visitor can enter without buying a self-grill table.

If you want to do the grilling

The organizer lists ₩20,000 per charcoal-grill table or ₩10,000 per gas-burner-and-griddle table. Those are table fees, not per-person meal prices. Meat and vegetables cost extra; equipment, reusable tableware and sauces are provided. Budget for the ingredients as well as the reservation.

The city notice now marks both the September 16 and October 6 reservation releases as closed, as checked October 14. The organizer plans some first-come tables, but do not build a meal plan around obtaining one.

The published session start times are noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. However, the city notice and the organizer's program page disagree on some session end times. Check the complete time range shown for the table you select before arranging transport or another appointment.

A useful booking checklist is short: the correct festival date, grill type, session, table fee and cancellation terms. Keep the confirmation accessible on your phone. The booking announcement alone does not establish whether your overseas phone number or payment method will work, so check those requirements in the booking flow before relying on a reserved meal.

No reservation? Make the food village your starting point

The festival is scheduled for October 24–25, 2026 at Nanji Campground, at 28 Hangangnanji-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Its program combines self-grilling, prepared-food vendors, chef demonstrations, performances and a market. You do not need a self-grill booking simply to explore the event.

For a flexible visit, start with the prepared-food area rather than building the afternoon around obtaining a grill. Check vendors and their individual operating times closer to the date, then leave room to look around. Overall festival opening hours do not mean every food stall serves until closing.

The organizer plans some first-come, first-served self-grill tables, but availability is not guaranteed. Treat those as a possible extra, not your only lunch plan. A walk-in visit still involves paying for any food you choose.

Plan the trip to Nanji before choosing your session

The campground's riverside setting is part of the appeal, but the map pin deserves attention. Search for 난지캠핑장, not merely “Han River park.” A general park destination can leave you planning around a different entrance or meeting point.

Seoul announces festival shuttles from Digital Media City station, Line 6, exit 2, and Mangwon Hangang Park car park 1, at ₩1,500 per ride. Confirm the boarding location and last departures on the official transport page before travelling. Do not mistake the shuttle stop for the festival entrance.

Leave a buffer between reaching the area and your booked grill session. For an unreserved visit, transport can be the first fixed point in an otherwise flexible afternoon. The park photograph shows Nanji's riverfront in May 2020; it does not show the 2026 festival layout.

Pack for a festival, not a private camping setup

Outside food is permitted under the organizer's FAQ, but personal cooking outside the provided barbecue experience is restricted. Personal tents and shade shelters are also prohibited. Return reusable dishes to the designated collection points.

Bring a light festival kit and check the organizer’s weather notices before leaving. If a reserved grill is essential, confirm a table before fixing the rest of the day’s plan.

Key Takeaway
Entry is free; food and self-grill tables are separate costs. The city notice marks advance bookings as closed. Visit the prepared-food area without relying on a walk-in grill.
